Tales from the unexpected
The historical essence of this place envelops you, with old-world charm and breathtaking mountain views. Our spacious room was a delightful blend of comfort and character. Waking up to stunning views of autumn foliage was a treat. The staff were always attentive, and the meals—a highlight of my stay! Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
While the dining experience was exceptional, the room I stayed in felt rather outdated and lacked modern charm. Some areas of the hotel clearly needed renovation.

The location was simply stunning, right next to the
river and surrounded by beautiful gardens. However, our room had a musty odor that was hard to ignore, which marred an otherwise fantastic stay. Despite this, the attentive staff made us feel welcomed and valued throughout our visit.

Our family had a lovely time here! The staff were super helpful, even sending my son's plush toy to our next stop, and we really enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful garden and warm onsen. The Wi-Fi could be a bit spotty, but overall, it was a fantastic stay! 😊

The historic charm of this place is undeniable, with a fascinating ambiance that whispers secrets of a bygone era. Spacious rooms, especially in the annex, provide a cozy retreat with unique quirks like rusted steam radiators that add to the character.
Renovations were happening during my stay, which may not work for everyone. The dining experience leaned heavily on set meals that tended to be pricey, and options outside, like the specialty restaurants nearby, closed rather early. Additionally, while the older rooms boast history, they desperately need modern updates. furnishings show age as do the tiny bathrooms with limited space for toiletries.

We had an amazing time staying here with friends! The historical charm really stood out, and we loved visiting the Toshogu shrine and the nearby Imperial Villa. Just a heads up, the area quiets down at night, so grab your dinner early or dine at the hotel. Highly recommend the breakfast too!
One downside was the strong air freshener smell throughout the hotel. It affected my allergies, which was a bit bothersome during our stay.
